WYC Extended Family
This term refers to those individuals, businesses, churches, civic groups, foundations, and friends who continuously offer support for our program. The ongoing generosity of these persons/groups is what allows our program to thrive, expand services, and provide the very best place to call home for our residents.
Current Members Include:
1) Lennar Homes & the staff of the MB Office who continuously assist WYC and interact with residents.
2) Mrs. Sue Dusenbury who takes the time to create a personalized quilt for each child and who goes above and beyond everyone's expectations.
3) The Beams & Friends; this couple has made it a monthly chore for themselves to cook dinner with the boys and they have also gotten several of their friends involved.
4) Kingston Presbyterian Church; whose members make sure that each child has a cake for their birthday!
5) All of our current and previous board members who have devoted time, energy, and resources to get us where we are today.
6) Rick Petitt, our Scout Leader. Rick has established a positive and meaningful relationship with the boys in the scout program and certainly sets the standard for a positive role model.
7) The Waccamaw Sertoma Club who never gives up on us! Every year, they work harder to make our annual BBQ fundraisera larger success. The men of this group are more than a blessing.
8) Dr. R Wharton Gaul- a man of dignity and generosity. He is part of the reason that WYC exists today and we are proud to have the boys cottage in his honor. Gaul Cottage provides the living quarters for all of our boys.
9) The Westbrook Foundation, who recognizes our strides towards success and honors our grant requests every single year. It's great to have believers in our program.
10) Nixonville Chapel and First Baptist Church, two church families who generously provide for us each and every month.
11) Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church who over the years have taken an active role in helping the Center with maintenance to the property, formed relationships with residents, provided many meals, and who provides us with quarterly donations.
12) All of those churches, individuals, businesses, and civic groups who keep us in their prayers, on their objectives list, and who financially support us during both the year and the holidays. There are so many of you who fall into this category and each and every one is a blessing. You are the angels among us!
13) Gail Singleton & Family who took their own personal loss of a son and turned it into opportunities for our residents. Gail has spent her personal time fighting for our cause through multiple fundraisers and has established a presence among our boys.
14) Dr. Sharon Thompson; a leader in our community and a priceless gift to our agency. Dr. Thompson has used her voice to assist WYC in years of fundraising, teaching others about our mission, and through providing guidance to our staff members during critical times. She has been involved in so many capacities and has made a lasting impression upon our program and our hearts.
15) Mr. Harry Dill, this buisnessman believed in the program from the beginning and actively assisted in the creation and startup of the program in addition to oversight of the original construction. His service and dedication will never be forgotten.
16) Nicole and Stephen Karos (Owners of Seafare Restuarant) who have become very involved with WYC and have offered generosity and support on every occassion possible.
